FAQ
What is Cryo Sculpting? Cryo Sculpting is a new form of body contouring that utilizes fat freezing (cryolipolysis) to achieve unmatched specific results. We use the newest & most innovative cryo-aesthetics equipment currently available. Our specialized equipment, the handheld AmericaCryo device uses liquid CO2 is instantly transformed into a dry gas. This hyper-cooled gas is sprayed on the treatment area in a high velocity. This allows us achieve deeper penetration and faster cooling, overcoming the resistance of hardened fat cells.
This technique is safe, effective, and painfree, allowing us to match the results of invasive procedures for a much lower price point.
What is liquid CO2?
Liquid CO2 is carbon dioxide gas that is highly compressed and cooled to a liquid form. It is safe to be applied on the skin and should not be breathed in.
What is cryolipolysis? Cryolipolysis is the process of fat cells dying due to cold tempratures.
Cryo Sculpting® vs CoolSculpting® What are the differences? Cryo Sculpting uses a handheld device to pray the surface of the skin and rapidly cool body tissues. CoolSculpting® uses applicators & suction to freeze fat. Cryo Sculpting® is performed by spraying hyper-cooled CO2 (a dry gas) on the area in a high intensity. Because of this, we can reach more areas on the body and target more specifically. With CoolSculpting®, results can be seen approximately 4 weeks to 4 months after treatment. With Cryo Sculpting, some may see results after the first treatment. For others, results can normally be seen within 7-21 days. Our process has three steps that each address a different part of the process. The fat is instantly destroyed, the broken down cells are swept into the lymph vessels with the chilled iron and the the skin is tightened with the diffused spray.
How long is a typical session? The sessions are fast, we measure our cycles in 90 second intervals. A typical session is less that half an hour for the core or a large area and even less that fifteen minutes for the arms.
Is it safe? Yes! CryoSculpting is safe, effective and proven. Your therapist is trained to monitor the skin and in fact the device has two separate sensors that measure the skin temperature and the distance to the delivery. This means that a very obvious red light comes on to signal if the its too close to the or if skin becomes chilled beyond safe levels and if not adjusted, the device will turn off.
Cryo Sculpting vs Cryo T-Shock or Cryoskin
Cryo T-Shock and Cryoskin utilize a flat round applicator applied to skin by a technician. The applicator is applied in massage-like manner over the treatment area. The applicator alternates between cold and warm temperatures. Our Cryo Sculpting technology utilizes hyper-cooled gas that is sprayed onto the treatment area at a high velocity. Our process delivers a more targeted flow, the pressure is much higher, and the temperature of application is lower. This allows us to achieve deeper penetration and faster cooling, overcoming the resistance of hardened fat cells. Cryo T-Shock and Cryoskin use gels on the treated area that allows the applicator to glide more smoothly over the treatment area. The gel is removed after the treatment. Cryo Sculpting process does not utilize any gels.
What should I wear to a Cryo Sculpting appointment?
Please wear loose clothing or underwear / bathing suit which allows complete access to treatment area. Please avoid lotions or creams on the day of treatment. Please let us know if you are wearing lotions and we’ll remove them beforehand to avoid any interactions.
What should I do to prepare for a Cryo Sculpting appointment?
- Be sure to wear or bring the appropriate clothing (see above for details)
- Increase water intake (preferably with lemon)
- If possible, avoid caffeine day of treatment
- Do not wear / apply any creams in the treatment area
- If possible, avoid doing anything to artificially increase body temp
- In cold climates avoid using car seat heaters
- No working out / exercise before
- Skin should be free of sweat
- Note any marks, scars, or sores in treatment area prior to treatment (We’ll also bring these to your attention)
Do I really need to avoid coffee/caffeine before a Cryo Sculpting appointment?
Generally speaking, it’s a best-practice not to do anything to elevate your body temperature prior to a Cryo Sculpting (fat-freezing) appointment. Sometimes it just takes us a little longer to cool the treatment areas down to fat-freezing temps if the client does anything to elevate their body temperature pre-appointment. The more hydrated and relaxed you are the better.
How long does a Cryo Sculpting session last?
It depends on the area(s) being treated. We usually reserve 30 minutes for each appointment, where multiple areas can be treated during that time. Spray time per section of the treatment area is generally 3-5 minutes.
How long will it take to see results with Cryo Sculpting ?
It really depends on the individual situation. Skin tone improves immediately for pretty much everyone. The fat is destroyed in the session and the body’s lymphatic system then removes it permanently. Additionally, inflammation is reduced immediately. Generally, rule is to plan to have at least 6 sessions over 2-3 months. If we don’t see trackable results within about 5 weeks and 3 treatments, we should take time to reassess the treatment protocols or aftercare.
Does Cryo Sculpting hurt? No. Clients may feel cold, but should not experience any discomfort. Typically, clients feel refreshed and energized after a session.
Are there any side effects with Cryo Sculpting?
Clients may experience:
- Increased energy & feeling happy
- Some temporary redness in the treatment area
- Possibly more frequent bathroom visits (body flushing out the dead fat cells)
On rare occasions, if a treatment area is somewhat over-exposed to cold, a skin burn may occur. These can be easily treated with ointments such as silver dioxide, Silver Miracles Colloidal Silver Gel, Improved Medihoney Gel Wound & Burn, or other similar over-the-counter ointments.
Who should not receive a Cryo Sculpting treatment?
Most people are good candidates for Cryo Sculpting, please let us know if you have specific concerns. You should consult with your doctor for any lymphatic disorders, cancer, or pregnancy.
What should I do after a Cryo Sculpting session to maximize my results?
We recommend following these best practices & guidelines:
- Continue to increase your water intake and add lemon and/or apple cider vinegar if possible
- Avoid alcohol after treatment (1 day)
- Exercise daily for 15-30 minutes
- Massage the area. Optional: wear compression clothing if available
- Avoid sugars (especially fructose), refined grains (especially gluten), and chemically modified fats
- Limit high salt foods for 1-2 days post treatment
- Do deep breathing exercises
- Perform dry brushing in sweeping motions, always toward the heart
The above are all known to promote healthy lymphatic drainage.
Are the effects of Cryo Sculpting permanent?
Cryo Sculpting permanently freezes & destroys existing fat cells. However, if one does not maintain a healthy diet and exercise, new fat can develop.
How many Cryo Sculpting sessions will I need?
Each individual will respond differently to a Cryo Sculpting treatment. Generally speaking, more than one treatment will be needed to see longer-lasting results.
